Radisson Blu Stansted offers an award-winning service and are very popular with the business community. They are the only hotel on the airport at London Stansted.
The brief: “We’re a landmark building at London Stansted; we offer excellent facilities, such as our wine tower and wine angels, restaurants and accommodation. We want to be a bigger part of the local community and want locals to think of us when they’re going out to dinner.”
Implementation
A community PR campaign was devised to reach out into the local area. A series of events and visits with local schoolchildren were organised. In partnership with the hospitality team, we created pizza making events, ‘barista for a day’ training for schoolchildren, and made Christmas puddings with children to give to a care home for the elderly. Sustained media relations promoted the events to keep the hotel in the headlines.
Fun events were also organised to capture the media’s imagination, such as a cook-off between journalists – who could cook the perfect steak?
We also launched a new conference package, including ‘brain food’, to B2B press to boost awareness of their conferencing facilities.
Impact
200+ schoolchildren visited the Radisson Blu over 12 months, taking part in a wide range of community events.
The hotel enjoyed a sustained media presence. The media were fed a wide range of fun and interesting storylines to keep the story fresh.
Radisson Blu Stansted kept its profile high in all regional titles and custom to the hotel from the local community grew significantly.
