Big Wave PR has walked off with three top gongs at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations CIPR PRide Awards 2022 (Anglia, Thames and Chiltern).
The PR firm, based in Ardleigh near Colchester, won a gold and a silver award for their work with Visit Essex, which promoted the Essex coastline – ‘The Essex Coast: Experience the Unexpected’ showcased ‘off the beaten track’ coastal destinations along the county’s 350-mile coastline and estuaries.
Highlights of the campaign included a launch in Brightlingsea Harbour with paddleboarders, kayakers, boats and a sea shanty crew marking the start of the summer season. As well as press visits from national media titles, such as The Sun newspaper and Coast magazine; a new film was also produced to entice visitors to enjoy a short break or staycation along Essex’s sunny shores. The campaign won Gold for Best Consumer Campaign and a Silver for Best Tourism Campaign, it’s Big Wave PR’s eighth year in a row they’ve picked up the consumer title.
Adding to their award tally was a Gold award for Best Event for the launch of the ‘Essex Year of Reading,’ a campaign set-up by Essex County Council to instil a lifelong love of reading in schoolchildren. The launch event included a very special visit from TV presenter, Dermot O’Leary who returned to his old primary school and broadcast live to 7500 primary school children across the county reading from his latest book ‘Toto the Ninja Cat and the Legend of the Wildcat’.
Delighted with the award wins is Hilary Collins, MD and Founder of Essex-based agency Big Wave PR. She says: “We’re absolutely over the moon to win this hattrick of awards! To win the consumer relations award for the eighth year in a row is an incredible achievement and once again I’m really proud of the team who have put in an immense amount of work, for projects we’re so passionate about. I would also like to thank our amazing clients for their continued support – we love what we do and that’s what makes the difference!”
Earlier in the year Big Wave PR was shortlisted for the Global PRCA Dare awards for their work challenging the Essex stereotype.
